Cosmetic Dermatology is the treatment of the signs of aging and is aimed at both the rejuvenation and prevention of damage to the
skin. Treatments include laser removal of various marks, growths, veins, as
well as elimination of fine lines and different texture irregularities resulting from acne or sun damage. The aim is to preserve and restore the
beauty of skin unmarked by age and the environment. The latest trend in anti-aging treatments is the use of gentle,
non-invasive treatments such as Glycolic Peels, Microdermabrasions and
laser facials that work through incremental improvements, with absolutely no
downtime involved, unlike the more aggressive and invasive surgical options
which involve many potential risks and significant downtime.

BOTOX
Do you ever feel you look angry even though you are not?
If so, BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin) is the solution for you. These treatments are a
crowd pleaser for both men and women because they bring about immediate
gratification by erasing the unwanted lines of facial expressions. Treatments
consist of the injection in minute amounts of BOTOX into various areas of the
face. The forehead and eyebrow lines are especially popular. BOTOX brings about
a temporary decrease in the ability to move the muscles in the treated areas
thereby causing the relaxation and disappearance of wrinkles. The name “Toxin”
caused many concerns but for no reason - since only a tiny quantity can be injected,
there is absolutely no chance of any systemic “toxic” effects.
GLYCOLIC PEELS
(FRUIT ACID or ALPHA HYDROXY PEELS)
Glycolic Acid is a naturally
occurring substance, made from sugar cane. It is supposed to be the “secret weapon” giving Cleopatra her beautiful skin
thousands of years ago. The treatments are typically performed on the face,
neck or hands. Glycolic Acid is carefully applied to the skin, leaving it
smoother and less wrinkled after the treatment. These peels are excellent not
only for the improvement of sun damage, such as wrinkles and brown
spots, but also for treatment of acne prone skin and large pores.
Because of their gentle nature, there is no downtime involved.
MICRODERMABRASION
(PARISIAN PEEL or LUNCHTIME PEEL)
This is a non-invasive, gentle treatment, utilizing very fine
crystals in getting you the smooth, evenly textured, evenly colored skin you
have always desired. In a series of
treatments, microdermabrasion leads to tighter and smaller pores, elimination
of blotchiness and pigmentation marks as well as improvement of fine lines due
to the formation of new, healthy collagen as a result of the treatment. This is
another “crowd pleaser” that we often combine with Glycolic Acid Peels for
anti-aging as well as acne treatment. It is remarkably helpful in the
elimination of brown facial pigmentation from Melasma (a hormonal condition
often following pregnancy, use of Birth Control Pills or just appearing for no
good reasons). It also helps fade out dark marks remaining on the skin from
traumas of various sorts.
LIP
ENHANCEMENT
This
is a very popular option for the young and beautiful in order to achieve that
very popular look of full, sensual “Angelina Jolie” lips. The most commonly
used material is Collagen, which is a natural component of our skin. Collagen
is injected into and around the lip to enhance and create the desired fullness.
We recommend an over-the-counter anesthetic cream to make the treatment more
pleasant. Currently, other substances are in the process of approval by the FDA
and will provide additional options. Restylane and Artecoll are just two such
examples.
FACIAL WRINKLE
and SCAR FILLERS
Collagen
is the most commonly used therapy for smoothing out facial lines, wrinkles, and
scars by restoring the surface of the skin to its previous natural state.
The collagen is injected just beneath the skin’s surface, and produces an
immediately visible difference in the appearance of your skin. The most
commonly treated areas are the deep lines that run from the nose to the lips,
as well as the vertical “smokers lines” above the lips. Periodic re-treatments
are recommended to maintain the improvements achieved. This is a great way to jazz up your looks for that
big event or blind date tonight!
RESTYLANE®
This is a wonderful new alternative
to collagen that can be used for lip enhancement and wrinkle and scar
treatments. RESTYLANE,
which has been used in the last years successfully in Europe,
was recently approved by the FDA as the newest filler
for facial wrinkles. RESTYLANE, made of
hyalouronic acid, is already a favorite over collagen, because
it requires no skin tests and lasts much longer than collagen.
Now we have a safe, long lasting material to make you look
instantly younger!
The FDA is currently in the process of approving two similar
products by the same manufacturer: RESTYLANE FINE
LINES for thin skin with shallow wrinkles and also PERLANE,
which is a more concentrated version of Restylane so that it lasts longer in
the lines on the lower face and the lips.
LEG
VEINS
(SCLEROTHERAPY)
Spider veins on the legs can
spoil the summer look for the young as well as the less-young. The injection of
these purple marks using a special solution is a highly effective way of
eliminating them. The treatment is performed with a tiny needle and is
considered PAINLESS! You should start well ahead of the summer, since often
several sessions are needed to achieve the desired look. For those of you who
really HATE needles, lasers can also treat these blemishes.
