Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft® (formerly known as Perlane®) is Dr. Hellman’s filler of choice for smoothing out facial lines, wrinkles, or acne scars, and for adding volume to certain areas of the face. The active ingredient in these safe and effective fillers is hyaluronic acid, which provides immediate results that last for up to 12 months. When Dr. Hellman meets with patients who wish to address signs of aging or scars on the face, she often suggests using Restylane Lyft.

How hyaluronic acid fillers work

The Restylane family of products, which includes Restylane and Restylane Lyft, contains hyaluronic acid suspended in a clear gel. Restylane Lyft contains a unique formulation of hyaluronic acid that is designed to treat specific problems or areas of the face.
Hyaluronic acid has been used in the medical community for several decades. In cosmetic dermatology, it is used to fill out areas that have lost volume or elasticity due to the aging process. When hyaluronic acid is injected, it adds volume beneath the skin, acting like an inflated balloon to fill out wrinkles, lines, and depressions. In addition, the injection of hyaluronic acid increases the production of collagen in the treatment area, providing longer lasting results. It also draws water to the skin’s surface, which helps skin appear fresh and supple.

Hyaluronic acid is biocompatible with the human body. Over time, it is broken down and naturally absorbed by the body, which is why repeat treatments are needed to maintain results. In use for over a decade, the filler has been used in more than 15 million treatments around the world. Its high safety profile has been proven through extensive testing and clinical studies.

Treatment and Results

Treatment with Restylane Lyft in NYC typically takes less than 30 minutes. First, Dr. Hellman will discuss your goals and assess your face to determine where the filler should be injected. Optional topical numbing cream can be used upon request. Dr. Hellman uses a fine needle to inject small amounts of the product in and around the targeted area. Afterwards, she will provide you with an ice pack to apply to your face to minimize redness, swelling and bruising.

After the treatment, you will be able to resume normal activities immediately, but you should avoid putting pressure on the treatment areas so the filler does not move around beneath the skin. You will see the results of your treatment immediately and the treated area will continue to improve as collagen production increases in the coming months. On average, results last 8 to 12 months. Most of our patients are so happy with their results that they come back for repeat treatments.
